Mexico: Closer than Ever
If you are one of the 71.4 percent of American adults considering a vacation abroad this year, but are thinking about the present economical situation, you should know about a country near you with a large amount of non-stop flights, a vast tourist offer and a highly favorable exchange rate: Mexico. Just consider this, you can go for five days to the Mayan Riviera, where you have white sandy beaches and turquoise waters, first class hotels, gourmet cuisine and unique archeological sites, for half the money that you would need to go for four days to the French Riviera. And besides all the aforementioned, the Mayan Riviera offers one of the most extraordinary experiences offered anywhere in the world: swimming with the whale sharks, enormous creatures that grow to more than thirty feet long, but are quite docile. Big opportunities like this are not hard to pass up, because since last August, the American dollar’s value has increased 32 percent compared to the Mexican peso. And due to this favorable exchange rate, a flight from the United States to Mexico City – where you can enjoy first class architecture, 113 museums, handicrafts, gourmet restaurants and entertaining nightlife – costs 2.5 times less than an air ticket from the United States to European cities like Madrid or Barcelona. But Mexico is not only the Mayan Riviera and Mexico City. Did you know that Mexico has 29 World Heritage Sites, including the biggest Biosphere Reserve in Latin America? During 2008, Mexico received 22.6 million tourists, 81 percent (or 18.03 million) of them Americans. This year, Mexico’s Ministry of Tourism expects an increase of 2.5 percent of these travelers for pleasure. Why can’t you be one of them? For more information go to: www.visitmexico.com
