A Whale of a Holiday in Loreto
A frequent traveler to Loreto is the blue whale, the largest living creature on Earth, which can weigh up to 200 tons. More than 2,000 blue whales migrate south to Mexico and Costa Rica in the winter to feed on the warm waters teeming with life. In Loreto they are not alone; fin whales (the 2nd largest animal), humpback whales, dolphins and other 25 species of marine mammals can be seen in these deep blue waters surrounding the five islands in the area. After a sea adventure enjoy local specialties like lobster, fish tacos, and the famous grilled chocolate clams. Further inland you can visit the 300 year old Loreto Mission, as well as the Sierra La Giganta mountains where you can explore the thousand-year old cave paintings. How big is the blue whale? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Long Live Art in Mexico City!
