Mexico, a Quilt of Cultural Events
The month of April is a quilt of culture. Visitors looking for things to do in Mexico’s different destinations will not be disappointed once they discover the countless amounts of festivals and events ranging from book fairs, music and films festivals to poetry, dances and theatre. What better way to visit the array of historic buildings, archaeological sites, plazas and zocalos of the charming cities and towns of Mexico than by attending first class cultural events. Here are some of the cultural events taking place this month around Mexico.
Santiago de Queretaro Festival
This cultural festival takes place to commemorate the capital city of the State of Queretaro, Santiago de Queretaro. From April 12th through the 19th,an array of interesting activities such as music, theatre, concerts, exhibits and food festivals are offered to visitors.

6th Marionette Festival in San Miguel de Allende
During Easter, the beautiful city of San Miguel becomes a unique backdrop for the most amazing stories and marionettes traveling from around the world to amuse kids, families and visitors. From April 13th through April 19th, in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, the 6th Marionette Festival takes place offering visitors free outdoor performances at the main plaza and theatrical presentations at the beautiful Angela Peralta Theater and the Fine Arts Palace.
National Fair and Cultural Festival of San Marcos
April 18th to May 10th
With more than 180 years of history, this remarkable, vivid and broad fair includes theater, literature, arts, children activities and traditional practices such as charreria, bull fighting and livestock expositions. Each year the Fair showcases a guest country and a Mexican state; for the 2009 edition the guests will be France and Nuevo Leon.
